Interspar Named Austria's Top Supermarket In Customer Satisfaction Survey

Interspar has received the highest satisfaction rating among traditional supermarkets in Austria, according to a recent survey.

A customer satisfaction evaluation by the Austrian Association for Consumer Studies (ÖGVS) rated almost 2,000 companies on a 10-point scale, with Interspar scoring the highest among traditional supermarkets, at 7.77 points. Including all categories, the retailer ranked at 76th place.

The number one spot on the overall rankings was taken by Jeff Bezos' e-commerce giant Amazon.at, with 8.73 points.

Other retailers high on the list included discount retailer Hofer, coming in overall at number 4 with 8.50 points, and cosmetics and health foods retailer dm-drogerie markt at number 6 with 8.43 points.

Wide-ranging Survey

6,944 consumers were interviewed and 412,792 business reviews were submitted, with participants from across the industry taking part in an online survey to score the participants.

“In addition to all their daily grocery needs, customers are provided with the best and most personal customer service at Interspar,” said Markus Kaser, managing director, Interspar Austria.

“Everyday, our employees focus on the customer when executing their tasks,” he continued. “It is great that this commitment and personal service have now been acknowledged by the Austrian Association for Consumer Studies.”

Sales Growth

Spar Austria recently posted a sales increase of 4.6% to €6.7 billion in 2017, driven by expansion and a €650 million investment in its network.

The retailer plans to invest a further €700 million in 2018, including ing a new distribution centre in Italy and broader expansion abroad.
