Italy’s San Pellegrino Expands Production Capacity

Nestlé Italia is investing €90 million in the restructuring of its water and soft drinks factory in San Pellegrino Terme, reports daily Il Sole 24 Ore.

Upgrade work will be done without interruption to production and should last four years, however a new bottling line is already operational.

Last year, the Sanpellegrino group produced an estimated 1.6 billion bottles and the plan is to increase this figure by 25% over the next six years. To this end, it is planning the construction of another bottling line.

Elsewhere, fellow Italian firm, pasta manufacturer Barilla, is investing €50 million to expand its pasta sauces plant in Rubbiano near Parma.

The work will be completed in 2018 and will make it the largest and most efficient production plant of pasta sauces in Europe, with a maximum production capacity of over 122,000 tons/year.
