Jamón Serrano Producers Satisfied By Geographic Indication Guidelines

Spanish producers of jamón serrano have expressed their satisfaction after being informed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food that their request for an IGP (Indicación Geográfica Protegida) is to be sent to Brussels for its processing by the EU.

As reported by FinancialFood.es, once confirmed, this will enable greater protection for the traditional Spanish food product.

Exports of jamón serrano grew by 14% in value compared to 2014, while, between 2011 to 2015, growth was estimated at a remarkable 60%.

In terms of exports, 2015 saw an increase of 16%, compared to the previous year.
