John Lewis Appoints Ex-Morrisons Mobile Boss To Director Of Online Product

British retailer John Lewis has appointed Sienne Veit to the newly-created role of director for online product.

Veit will drive the development of the retailer's online customer experience across all channels - the John Lewis website, mobile and other devices. She will report to the online director, Mark Lewis.

The online customer experience team holds responsibility for seamless customer experiences across all channels. The John Lewis app was a revent project with an update for the tablet-related app coming ahead of the busy festive trading period.

Sienne was previously head of mobile at supermarket chain Morrisons. Before her time at the grocery retailers, she worked at Marks & Spencer for five years. She was named as one of Mobile Marketer’s Women to Watch for 2013.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mark Lewis, online director at John Lewis, said: ‘I’m delighted that Sienne will be joining the online team as director, online product. With a deep passion for customer experience and many years working in the digital retail space, Sienne is ideally placed to lead the next stage of our online and omnichannel growth and ensure customer experience across our website, mobile, tablet and other devices is market-leading.’

Speaking on her new role, Veit said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining John Lewis. Over the last few years, the business has worked hard to grow its omnichannel offer to customers and I’m looking forward to building on this to ensure John Lewis remains renowned for its outstanding experience to customers no matter how they choose to shop.’

Over 50 per cent of traffic to the John Lewis website now comes from mobile devices confirming how a robust mobile strategy is now central to the retailer’s digital operations.
