Kaufland Romania has opened its third store in Cluj-Napoca, a city in the northwest of the country, which is the retailer's first outlet integrated in a real-estate complex.
With a sales area of 2,403 square metres, the hypermarket features a new, modern design, the company said. More than 50% of its SKUs are produced in Romania, which the retailer says will guarantee freshness and reduce prices, while at the same time providing support to the local economy.
The store uses an environmentally-friendly air conditioning system, recovering heat from refrigeration units used in store and saving natural resources.
With this latest opening, Kaufland now has 116 stores across Romania.
National Expansion
Meanwhile, Romanian supermarket chain Profi has also continued to expand its store network, with 28 new openings in the past month, taking the retailer's total to almost 700 stores in 365 locations across Romania.
New Profi Loco stores have opened in Baia de Aries, Baltesti, Salistea de Sus, Tismana, Negru Voda, Melinesti, Moldovita, Blejesti, Botoroaga and Poeni.
Additionally, new City format stores can be found in Brasov, Bucharest, Alba Iulia, Bacau, Floresti, Timisoara, Pietra Neamt and Craiova.
The grocery retailer has also launched stores under its Profi Standard banner in Timisoara, Curtea de Arges, Calafat, Darabani, Deva, Bacau, Bucharest, Belcesti and Patarlagele.
