Kingspan Introduces High-Performance Packaging For Lighter Loads

KPP, a division of the Kingspan Group, is targeting supermarkets with its line of high-performance polystyrene (EPS) and polypropylene (EPP) packaging, designed to provide lighter loads and fewer lorries on the road.

The lightweight, versatile and environmentally-friendly attributes of EPS and EPP provides supply chains with less packaging weight, easy handling and storage distribution with the same quality and durability as before.

The packaging's impact-resistant characteristics help to lower costs caused by damage in the supply chain - saving supermarkets on materials, energy and transportation.

EPS is one of the lightest materials available - as it is 98% air, it adds little to the weight of the product.

The thermal properties, gel packs and vacuum-insulated panels are suited to the transportation of temperature-sensitive products.

Cold-chain distribution offers insulation and shock resistance.

EPP is of a more rigid form while still being lightweight.

Space efficiency and weight reduction in packaging leads to less effort required for transportation.

Both EPS and EPP are fully recyclable materials, said the global specialist provider of moulded and cut packaging solutions.

“For heavier or larger goods, Kingspan can mould EPP into any shape or form, irrespective of being simple or complex," said KPP’s packaging division sales manager, Sanjit Dosanjh.

“Kingspan’s extensive expertise in EPP and EPS moulded products can not only bring significant savings, but a sure-fire opportunity for future innovation and development in the supply chain," he added.
