Croatia's Ledo Commences Supply Deal With Pingo Doce

Croatian ice cream producer Ledo has commenced exporting products to Portugal.

The company's first delivery contract has been signed with leading Portuguese supermarket chain Pingo Doce, owned by retail group Jerónimo Martins, while the company is also present in Portugal with the Biedronka discount supermarket chain.

Ledo’s Coco Majestic premium ice cream  can already be found on Pingo Doce shelves. The coconut flavoured ice cream contains milk chocolate chips with coconut pieces.

According to Ledo’s export manager Tomislav Čavlek, “this is just the beginning of the co-operation with Jerónimo Martins and new projects are already in preparation for the Portuguese and Polish markets”.

Export Strategy

Ledo exports a third of its production to over 20 foreign markets, of which the countries of the former Yugoslavia are the most important.

Within its global expansion activities, as was the case with Portugal, Ledo has been successfully working with Daymon Worldwide, a leading company in the development of private brands for retail chains.

As well as the Jerónimo Martins group, Ledo sells its products to other global retailers, such as Tesco, Auchan, Hofer and IFFCO Group.
