Lenta Opens Two New Moscow Hypermarkets

Russian retailer Lenta announced the opening of two new hypermarkets at two locations in Moscow and the surrounding area.

The first is is a former Nash hypermarket, located in the city of Obninsk, 100km southwest of Moscow. It has a total area of 5,995 square meters, with 3,690 square meters of selling space, and is open from 8 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.

The second is in Domodedovo, a city on the southeastern outskirts of Moscow. This store has a total area of 8,844 square meters, with 5,217 square meters of selling space, and is open 24/7.

Lenta said that the stores in Obninsk and Domodedovo offer a broad product assortment of 15,700 and 20,500 SKUs, respectively, which have been selected specifically for residents of these two cities, and includes Lenta’s private labels and federal product ranges alongside local produce.

Continued Expansion

The new openings are the retailer’s sixteenth and seventeenth hypermarket launches this year, and bring the total number of Lenta stores to 208 hypermarkets in 79 cities across Russia and 69 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and the central region.

On Wednesday, Lenta announced the purchase of 22 supermarkets in Siberia from the Holiday Group, which are expected to be transferred before the end of the year.

The Russian retailer posted an 18.7% sales growth in the third quarter, increasing to RUB 89.6 billion.
