Lidl To Develop New Scottish Distribution Centre

Discounter Lidl is to develop a new regional distribution centre in Scotland, at the Eurocentral business park near Glasgow.

The Scotland Herald reported that the discounter acquired a 50-acre site from Scottish Enterprise, which it will use to develop a 58,000 square metre facility that will meet high sustainability standards.

The centre, which will represent a multimillion pound investment, will replace its existing warehouse facility in Livingston.

“We are firmly committed to helping boost the local economy by creating new jobs through the construction of the new RDC,” a Lidl Scotland spokesperson was quoted as saying. “The team are very much looking forward to now preparing and submitting the planning application. If approved we would hope to commence building in 2017”.
