Lidl Joins British Retail Consortium

Discounter Lidl has become the latest retailer to join the British Retail Consortium.

Helen Dickinson, BRC director general, said, "Lidl represent an important and growing part of the UK grocery market, and we're delighted to welcome them into our membership. We look forward to working closely with them and feeding their views into our dialogue with decision makers, particularly in key areas of BRC activity such as food policy and the environment."

Ronny Gottschlich, Lidl UK Managing Director, added, “Lidl has experienced tremendous growth within the UK retail sector in recent years and we are excited about the opportunities our membership to the BRC will bring. We are looking forward to being able to benefit from the BRC's campaigning and policy expertise in areas affecting our business."

Lidl first launched in the UK in 1994 and now has more than 600 stores across England, Wales and Scotland. With the addition of Lidl, the BRC’s membership now comprises 92% of the UK grocery market.
