Lidl Sells Locally Grown Cannabis In Its Swiss Stores

Lidl is selling locally grown cannabis in its stores in Switzerland.

The Arthur CBD Box and Packs are from Thurgau based suppliers The Botanicals, and the hemp flowers and are considered a substitute for traditional tobacco products. Lidl has had two products available on its shelves since April 19, 2018.

A 1.5g box costs 17.99 Swiss Francs (€15.06) while a 3g bag is 19.99 Swiss Francs (€16.73). The smaller box is from plants grown indoors while the 3g box is from flowers grown in greenhouses.

The products contain 1% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which, as of 2011, became the legal limit of sale for THC products to people over 18 in Switzerland.

Rather than THC, the products contain a high proportion of CBD, which is an ingredient of the hemp plant.

A statement from Lidl said that the manufacturer relies on sustainable agriculture and refrains entirely from adding any chemical, synthetic or genetically modified substances.
