M.A.D.E. 2018 Kicks Off In Paris

After an impressive launch last year, the second edition of M.A.D.E. takes place at Paris Porte de Versailles today and tomorrow (20 and 21 March), and promises to be a show with a difference, playing host to conferences, tastings, cooking demonstrations and, of course, a host of innovative exhibitors.

While M.A.D.E.(Marques Associées Distribution Event) was originally known as MDD Expo, it has now evolved to be much more inclusive, offering both new-product innovation and a platform for co-creation.

This year, M.A.D.E. 2018 is embracing health, incorporating healthy living and the ‘health of Mother Nature’, with an increased focus on products that are good for you, with sustainable credentials. With this in mind, the event will be built around two themes: Healthy Food and Healthy Planet.

The region of Québec, Canada, will be partnering with the show, enabling buyers from Canadian retailers to sample the best of French and international products, as well as opening new channels for business across the Atlantic.

For ESM: European Supermarket Magazine, this year’s event is also significant for another reason: we are proud to announce M.A.D.E. as the sponsor for our forthcoming European Private Label Awards 2019, the entry process for which is now open.

Offering Solutions

At the official launch of the 2018 edition, which took place in Paris in January, Sébastien Gillet, the show’s director, described M.A.D.E. as offering a “solution for retailers looking for new products, but also for manufacturers looking for other manufacturers to work together on co-production. This is the real DNA of the show.”

M.A.D.E. 2018 is also a must-attend event for producers and suppliers looking to co-create own-label products for a wide range of distribution networks.

Last year, close to 350 business meetings took place as part of the show’s Speed Meetings service, which offers pre-scheduled targeted meetings organised by M.A.D.E., designed to connect exhibiting manufacturers with visiting buyers and decision-makers.

Another highlight of the show is the Walk of Fame, a gallery of exhibitors’ star products at the exhibition entrance, which will also be expanded this year. It provides visitors with a succinct overview of what M.A.D.E.’s exhibitors have to offer, showcasing some of the most dynamic companies in the sector.

In addition, the M.A.D.E. Your Cuisine lab will feature a host of cooking demonstrations and tastings that aim to get to the heart of the Healthy Food/Healthy Planet theme.

M.A.D.E. Awards

Finally, the event will also see the presentation of the M.A.D.E. Awards, which highlight excellence in product development and innovation.

The six awards categories include Packaging Innovation; Recipe/Formulation/Ingredient Innovation; Breakthrough Innovation, Marketing/Positioning/Storytelling Innovation; and Open Innovation/Co-Creation.

The nominees for the M.A.D.E. Awards have already been revealed (see the full list here), and the winners will be announced at a special ceremony, taking place at 6pm today, 20 March.
