Wholesaler Makro Portugal Launches Online Store

Wholesaler Makro Portugal has launched an online store for customers, available in the regions where the business has a physical presence.

The Mshop can be accessed via PC, tablet or smartphone and allows customers to purchase online most of the products available in physical stores, compose a digital shopping cart and request the day of delivery.

Orders can be managed through customisable lists, with this service available 24 hours a day.

In the MShop, customers can also check their balance and their order history, even using old orders to reorder, changing only the quantities if necessary.

The application also creates a section of 'recommended' products, taking into account the buying preferences of customers.

The MShop is the latest tool that the wholesaler has made available to its customers, along with the Serviço de Entregas (delivery service) and Makro Go platforms.

Makro Portugal operates 10 stores in Braga, Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, Leiria, Coimbra, Alfragide, Cascais, Palmela, Faro and Albufeira.

Brazil Restructuring

Elsewhere, Makro is downsizing its presence in Brazil, by closing six stores, accounting for 8% of the store network, which consists of 74 outlets.

Local daily Valor Economico reported that stores were closed in Cambé (state of Paraná); Aricanduva, Marechal Tito and Araçatuba (all in São Paulo); as well as in Contagem and Juiz de For (Minas Gerais).

The company says the move is part of the strategic planning of “renewing the portfolio of stores and services”.

Earlier last year, Makro president Macros Ambrosano announced changes in the Brazilian operations, with the migration to the popular 'atacarejo' format.
