Milk And Yoghurt Record Strongest Growth In The Italian Organic Market

Organic milk and yoghurt recorded the strongest growth in the overall organic category in Italy in 2018, according to Assolatte.

Italian consumers are purchasing more organic dairy products due to their high nutritional value, wide versatility and natural qualities, reports Gdoweek.

According to Nomisma-AssoBio's research, as of the end of November 2018, sales of organic UHT milk increased by 32.8%, organic whole yoghurt by 12%, and organic fresh milk by 9.5%, compared to the previous 12 months.

In this way, dairy products have reinforced their importance to the Italian organic market. Fresh milk and whole yoghurt hold the fifth and the eighth positions in terms of the highest-selling organic products.

The purchase of organic products in Italy is becoming more widespread. The value of the Italian organic food market in 2018 was €3.5 billion, 8% higher than the previous year, according to Nielsen.
