EuroCIS: Mobile Payments On The Rise In Germany

A study by the EHI Retail Institute has found that some 57.3 per cent of German retailers are now able to process contactless payments, while a further 24.4 per cent plan to catch up in the near future.

The findings of the report were announced at EuroCIS, which is taking place until 25 February at Messe Düsseldorf.

The study also found that the smartphone is emerging as the central device for mobile payments in Germany, as contactless cards are not in widespread use in the country.

A separate study, also published by EHI and released at EuroCIS, found that the UK is the leading country in terms of pioneering omnichannel solutions. More than two thirds (73 per cent) of UK online shoppers have used click-and-collect services.

Some 408 exhibitors from 29 countries will be presenting innovative technology solutions for the retail sector at EuroCIS 2016.
