Monoprix Launches New Shop & Give Service

French retailer Monoprix has launched a new service called 'Shop & Give', which aims to help customers reduce their food waste.

Shop & Give allows customers who are having their groceries delivered at home return products they no longer want to eat to the delivery driver products. This may include food items near their expiry date, for example.

The service is not only about food, however, as customers can also dispose of used batteries or bulbs. Where possible, items will be redistributed to charities or will be recycled.

Sustainable Development

Around 300 Monoprix stores are already participating in food donation initiatives and redistribute the equivalent of over six million meals each year. The retailer also encourages the reduction and sorting of waste through in-store activities carried out in partnership with eco-organisations.

Monoprix says that the new Shop & Give service reaffirms its 'desire to offer more practicality to customers' and to go further in terms of service while 'cultivating its identity as a responsible and committed trader'.
