More Albert Heijn Private Label Products To Use Responsibly-Produced Meats

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has extended its use of sustainably-produced meats, such as free-range or organic chicken, in its private label products.

In addition to upgrading part of its existing assortment, the retailer has introduced a new range of ready-to-eat foods, including marinated free-range chicken and free-range chicken casseroles, schnitzels and burgers. The new range will be available in 275 Albert Heijn supermarkets across The Netherlands.

In addition, all meat used in AH-branded convenience meals and salads is now either free-range or organic, or certified ‘Better Life’ if it's pork that is sourced in The Netherlands.

Albert Heijn sells more free-range- and organic meat than any other retailer in The Netherlands.

The retailer has stated that it is on a mission to promote the consumption of more sustainably-produced meats, and wants to find uses for other cuts of meat provided by animals, besides fillets, thighs or chops.
