Müller Cuts Sugar In UK Yogurt Portfolio By 13.5%

Müller has announced that the sugar content in its UK yogurt range, which includes Müller Corner and Müllerlight, has been cut by 13.5% since 2015.

The company has done this by reformulating products, including the Müller Corner Strawberry yogurt, which now contains 19% less total sugar, and by launching new lower- and no-added sugar options.

This month, the dairy giant is launching its first Müller Corner product made with unsweetened natural Greek-style yogurt.

The Müller Corner Plain range is lower in sugar and higher in protein than standard yoghurts, and will be available in three flavours - strawberry and goji berry, blueberry and elderberry, and raspberry and pomegranate.

Category Growth

"Through reformulation, new portion sizes and new products, all made possible by unprecedented investment in our capabilities, our products continue to offer moments of pleasure and no compromise on taste," said Bergen Merey, managing director of Müller Yogurt & Desserts.

“By pursuing our ongoing sugar reduction strategy, exciting innovation, and boosting our marketing spend by almost 25%, we have big plans to grow the yogurt category even further.”

Müller previously announced plans to invest £100 million in its UK operations over the next three years, with the aim of expanding its range of branded products, and to launch new private label lines.

Last week, the dairy company also confirmed plans to acquire the capability to manufacture its own fresh milk packaging in the UK, with the aim of reducing plastic use.
