Nestlé Joins EU Vocational Skills Week

Food giant Nestlé has announced the launch of its ‘Alliance for YOUth’ programme, part of the European Commission's 'Vocational Skills' week, which runs until Friday.

'European Vocational Skills Week' is Europe’s second annual celebration of vocational education and training. Workshops, press conferences and other events and activities take place in Brussels over the course of this week.

Nestlé said it will contribute to the cause with more than 30 events and activities, which will take place in 23 countries across Europe, Middle East & North Africa (EMENA).

“Since the launch of our ‘Alliance for YOUth’ initiative in 2014, we have set up 760 dual learning schemes which combine on-the-job training with school/university-based learning,” said Marco Settembri, Nestlé's CEO for zone EMENA.

“I am also happy to see that since 2016, we have already offered 90 000 jobs and apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities."

Popular Employer

Nestlé was the only food and beverage company to make it into the top-five of the ‘International Happy Trainees’ ranking and the company sees itself as a highly attractive employer for young people.

The company has previously also joined the ‘Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth’, a scheme led by the International Labour Organisation to scale up action and impact on youth employment.

The week-long event can be followed on Twitter through the hashtags #euvocatinalskills and #discoveryourtalent.
