Nestlé Purina Promotes Working With Pets

Nestlé's Purina pet care brand has launched the European Pets@Work Alliance to promote the benefits of having pets in the workplace, with the aim of reaching 200 member companies by 2020.

The programme was first implemented in Purina Spain's offices in May 2016, but the company is now encouraging other companies to get involved, as the scheme has had a positive effect on employees.

“In Purina we are deeply convinced that the presence of pets in the offices makes the company a better and more pleasant place to work,” said Purina Spain managing director Jordi Bosch, adding that workers have improved their performance in terms of productivity, motivation and commitment.

The company has also created a protocol in order to successfully implement the initiative, focusing on safety, health, responsibility and education.

In addition, Purina PetCare has carried out a survey about the possibility of bringing pets to work, finding that 74% of Spanish workers would take their pet to work if given the option, while 42% said that it would help them balance their work and personal life.
