Eroski Opened 44 Supermarkets In First Half Of 2016

Spanish supermarket chain Eroski opened 44 supermarkets during the first half of the current year.

As reported on GondolaDigital.com, all of the shops are franchised and in line with the company's expansion plan, which aims to reach 100 new franchised openings in 2016.

The openings so far have represented an investment of €6.6 million and have generated 264 jobs. These openings, along with the transformation of the company's own shops, represent the Contigo model that defines the new generation of Eroski shops.

The Balearic Islands have seen the most openings, with eight new shops in the first half of the year. The remaining 36 opened in the Basque Country (7), Andalucia (6), Catalonia (6), Galicia (6), Madrid (3), Aragon (2), Castilla La Mancha (2), Castilla León (1), Ceuta (1), Melilla (1) and Navarra (1).

"We offer a different franchise, in an approachable establishment that differs from other concepts, thanks to its fresh products and good value on basic items, all in a space that allows customers to make their shopping in a comfortable and fast way," said Enrique Martínez, franchise director at Eroski.
