New Organisational Structure Reportedly To Be Trialled In 7 Morrisons Stores

Morrisons has launched an efficiency drive which will see the retailer removing a layer of management from its organizational structure, according to reports.

The retailer is said to be planning to strip out a tier of supervisors and middle managers from up to 500 stores, with initial trials of a series of different management configurations to begin in seven stores, starting from November.

"Morrisons will be trialling a new organisational structure in seven new stores later this year with the aim of creating a simpler management structure and more emphasis on customer service," a spokesperson for the retailer said.

He added, "The trial is about fine tuning the balance between counter staff and management. We do not anticipate any reduction in the number of colleagues in our stores."

Morrisons has some 25,000 employees at manger or supervisor level across its portfolio.
