Nivea is the most popular brand in Germany, according to the latest brand ranking survey, Brand Index's Top Performers In 2013, by Internet market research firm YouGov.
While Nivea claimed the No. 1 spot (57 index points) in the poll, DM (Dm-drogeriemarkt PL) came second (54 points) and electronic giant Samsung was in third position (54 points).
Also in the Top 5 for most popular brands were information website Wikipedia in fourth place (52 points) and search engine firm Google in fifth (50 points).
Nivea was the only brand from the personal care and cosmetics category to reach the overall top five brands, but Balea was the second most beauty brand with German consumers (40 points).
Regarding the food industry, Dr. Oetker was the most popular choice (42 points) with Country Love (38 points) in second place, followed by Iglo (34 points), Philadelphia (33 points) and Nutella (30).
In the confectionery section, Ritter Sport held the leading position (47 points). No 2 position was Milka, followed by Lindt, Ferrero and Haribo.
From the beer industry, Krombacher remains the most popular brand with Germans, Becks came second and Erdinger in third place. Radeberger held the No. 4 position while Warsteiner was fifth.
In the non-alcoholic beverages category, Gerolsteiner remains the No. 1 choice with German consumers, Coca-Cola came second, followed by Volvic and Schweppes.
Around 300,000 consumers took part in the annual brand ranking survey, said the market research and consulting institute.
