Colgate-Palmolive Commits To 100% Recyclability Of Plastic Packaging By 2025

Colgate-Palmolive Company has committed to 100% recyclability of plastics used in its packaging across all product categories by 2025.

The company also revealed that it has made significant strides towards its 2020 sustainability goals, which it announced last year, and has already achieved 98% PVC-free packaging.

2020 Update

As per one of its 2020 pledges, Colgate has reduced its water use per tonne of production by nearly 47% against 2002 benchmarks. It has also rolled out an advertisement campaign, ‘Save Water’, which employs consumers to "Turn Off the Tap When Brushing”.

It expects to achieve its goal of only using 100% sustainable palm oil later this year, and has already surpassed its greenhouse emissions from its manufacturing process, reducing it by 25% compared to 2002.

Ian Cook, Colgate chief executive said, "With the help of Colgate people and our suppliers and partners, we are making good progress against our 2020 goals.

“However, our sustainability journey is on-going and as we achieve some of our goals, we are assessing new areas for focus and new targets to strive for so that we can continue building a future to smile about."

Colgate recently announced that its quarterly sales met analysts' estimates as demand in emerging markets, including Latin America, was below expectations.
