E.Leclerc Freezes Prices of 3,500 Private Label SKUs in Portugal

E.Leclerc Portugal has 'frozen' the prices of 3,500 private label SKUs during the period of isolation imposed by the coronavirus crisis.

In a statement sent to the press, the French retailer said that 'even if the costs of production, transport, raw materials, among others, increase, it will always maintain low prices for the end customer', in addition to its weekly and usual promotions.

During the isolation period, the prices of products of the Guia, Marque Repère and Eco+ brands will not increase, reports Dinheiro Vivo.

The SKUs include basic necessities, including groceries, dairy products, drinks, cleaning and hygiene products, bio, gluten-free, pet food and a number of other references.

Supporting Local

E.Leclerc has also allocated increased space in selected stores to local fruit, vegetable and cheese producers, at no profit, during the national state of emergency.

The 'SOS Produtor – Zona Oeste' campaign, which started at the beginning of April, aims to respond to the 'difficulties producers are experiencing in marketing their products', reports Região da Leiria.

Participation in the campaign does not imply any prior link with E.Leclerc or require any future commitments.
