Marks & Spencer's former head of food packaging, Dr Helene Roberts, has been appointed as group marketing director at UK carton manufacturer Benson Group.
Roberts joins from Sealed Air Cryovac, where she has held the position of executive retail director for Europe since 2011. Prior to that, she held various roles during her 14 years at Marks & Spencer, including head of food packaging.
Roberts, who holds a PhD in polymer engineering, was highly involved in Marks & Spencer's high profile 'Plan A' environmental strategy, holding responsibility for the development of the 'Responsible Packaging Strategy' strand of the project.
In her new role with Benson Group, Roberts will be responsible for developing the marketing, communications and innovation offering for the Group across its food and healthcare sectors. She will take up the 'newly-created' role at the end of July, according to Benson Group.
Commenting on the appointment of Helene Roberts, Benson Group managing director Mark Kerridge said, “Helene’s experience in sales and marketing roles, plus her time spent with a major UK retail business made her the ideal candidate for this position. We firmly believe that Helene will be able to help us take Benson Group to the next level of packaging excellence.”
