Germany's Norma To Expand 'GMO-Free' Food Range

German discount chain Norma is to expand its GMO-free product range, reports rundschau.de.

Norma already offers GMO-free milk, cheese, meat and sausage products under its private-label brand Gut Langenhof, as well as oils, juices, frozen foods.

Its entire egg range has acquired the 'Ohne-Gentechnik' seal of quality.

The retailer will add more products with the 'Ohne-Gentechnik' label, which ensures that the products are not genetically modified.

A recent study by Civey pollsters revealed that almost 69% of Germans refrain from purchasing genetically-modified food, the report said.

The retailer offers over 200 non-GMO food SKUs in more than 1,300 stores across Germany.

In 2015, Norma first introduced GMO-free food items with the 'Ohne-Gentechnik' label.

It is a member of Verband Lebensmittel Ohne Gentechnik or VLOG – a German association responsible for certifying and issuing the ‘Ohne Gentechnik’ label, used in certifying GMO-free ingredients for food production.
