John Lewis Customers Now Able To Return Shopping To Waitrose Delivery Drivers

Shoppers at department store chain John Lewis can now return their purchases to Waitrose delivery drivers when they receive their groceries, the grocer has announced.

Following the announcement, shoppers will be able to return clothing and home purchases without having to return to the store.

Unwanted Parcels

Under the terms of the service, Waitrose.com shoppers can now hand back unwanted parcels they purchased from JohnLewis.com or Click & Collect, and the driver can process this immediately after their online grocery delivery has been made.

There will be no additional charge on any return service.

The announcement comes after a successful trial period last year.

"Following the success of the trial we are pleased to be extending this service to even more customers." said Ged Keogh-Peters, partner and director supply chain strategy, John Lewis.

"We are excited to be at the forefront of new services to make online shopping as convenient and quick as possible." he added.

Rapid Delivery

Waitrose & Partners has also announced plans to treble the size of its online grocery operation to a £1 billion business over the next three years.

It also recently unveiled plans for another fulfilment centre, which is set to open spring 2020 in Enfield.

The retailer has also confirmed that it will be extending its trial for Waitrose Rapid Delivery outside London after growing demand for customers to receive their shopping 'when and where they want it'.

The service will allow customers to have up to 25 grocery items delivered to them within two hours or less, on the same day.

John Lewis & Partners is also running a trial of a Next Day Click & Collect service with Co-op.
