Massimo Zanetti Acquires Brazil’s Café Pacaembu

Italy’s Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group (MZBG) has strengthened its presence in Brazil with the acquisition of Café Pacaembu for an undisclosed amount, reports suggest.

Founded in 1957, Café Pacaembu is one of the most traditional brands in the São Paulo State.

It represents one of the best-known coffees in Brazil's highly fragmented market, and was recently ranked number one for its 'extra strong' coffee in the country.

The Acquisition

The deal, executed by MZBG’s Brazilian subsidiary, includes a modern and efficient plant for the production of ground coffee.

The current management team and one of the company’s founders, will continue to lead Café Pacaembu.

With this acquisition, MZBG’s revenues for 2019, in Brazil, is projected to amount to around R$ 130 million.

MZBG Chairman and CEO, Massimo Zanetti, pointed out that Brazil is an interesting market "as the world’s largest producer and exporter of coffee and the second-largest consumer market in the world, with high growth rates".

A Market Leader

MZBG is one of the leading companies in the production, processing, and marketing of roasted coffee.

It operates 18 facilities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas and distributes coffee in about 110 countries. MZBG also has a global network of about 400 coffee shops in 50 countries.
