Packaging and paper group Mondi has developed a new water soluble film for packing powders, tabs and granulates.

The company says that the plastic film dissolves completely in water, making it a suitable solution to reduce packaging waste and improve customer safety for dishwasher, laundry or bath products. The films are also considered to be biodegradable, non-toxic and non-inhibitory.

Research And Development

“Mondi’s water soluble film provides several layers of benefits for both brands and their customers alike," said Oliver Sperber, chief innovation officer at Mondi.

"Our committed application engineers are able to customise the film according to customers’ specific needs, in addition to providing all of the necessary on-site support required to successfully launch a product using this material."

The company says that the product is suited to the home and personal care market, however, a number of applications in other sectors are continuing to emerge, including the agrochemical, building and construction sectors.
