Müller Adds Spoons To Packaging To Tackle 'On-The-Go' Challenge

Dairy brand Müller has announced that it is introducing two new yoghurt products with a spoon attached in the UK market, in order to push its products to the front of the store as an on-the-go snack.

The German dairy company launched Müller Corner Strawberry (150g) and Müller Light Goodies Lemon (107g) with an attached spoon. The disposable spoon will sit under the lid of the product. The two yoghurts retail at £0.90 each.

This move comes from Müller’s research, which found that the food-to-go market is increasing, and consumers are asking for a solution to the challenge of eating a yoghurt on the go.

Müller said, "[These launches] provide the dairy company with the opportunity to give consumers what they want, while also building on a segment of the market that has significant potential for growth."

Meeting Demands

Bill Mathieson, commercial director at Müller Yogurt & Desserts, said, “Our approach is to give customers what they want, and we know there is a real demand for yoghurts to be eaten on the go. The last thing we want is for people to improvise, so we are providing a spoon.

“In today’s time-poor society, we all somehow have less time to sit down and eat. On-the-go snacking is massive, but it’s not something that the category has nailed yet. If we’re going to unlock category growth, it’s vital that we listen to our customers and consumers. We’re very excited to give people the option to eat our products at a time and place that suits them best,” Mathieson said.

Müller’s research also found that 64% of people have purchased a yoghurt or potted dessert while out or at work – the third most-popular on-the-go food items, behind sandwiches, at 91%, and meal deals, at 69%.
