The PET packaging specialist APPE, formerly known as Artenius PET Packaging Europe, is preparing to launch a new barrier technology for drinks, which will improve bottle clarity and recyclability. The new technology will improve performance in areas such as oxygen ingress and vitamin C loss.
The barrier technology will be targeted at the juice and wine markets initially; it will be rolled out to the food sector at a later stage. APPE developed the technology with additives firm ColorMatrix and mould manufacturer KTW.
“We are very excited by this new barrier technology and the potential is offers for our key market sectors," said Cor Jansen, APPE's research and development director. “We look forward to long and successful working relationships with KTW and ColorMatrix as we see to revolutionise oxygen barriers as we know them.” (27 Sept)
