German retailer Norma has introduced environmentally friendly cartons for private-label milk and juice sold under the brand BIO SONNE.
The new Pure-Pak-Sense box packaging for the organic brand’s apple juice, fresh whole milk and low-fat milk will use significantly less material and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
The new brown packaging, designed by Elopak, uses around 5% less material compared to the previous version and is made of tall oil - a natural residue from paper and pulp production.
The company has also replaced the plastic packaging of BIO SONNE hay milk cheese with cardboard packaging made with 100% recyclable paper.
The move will help the retailer cut the use of plastics by 70% per pack.
The retailer aims to conserve resources, reduce plastic waste and facilitate waste separation through this initiative.
