Souq Rebrands As Amazon.ae In The UAE

Amazon has announced that the UAE-based e-commerce platform Souq, which it acquired in 2017, has been renamed Amazon.ae.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, the co-founder of Souq and vice-president of Amazon MENA, said, “Amazon.ae brings together Souq’s local know-how and Amazon’s global expertise – something we believe will be of significant benefit to UAE customers.”

Amazon.ae offers more than 30 million products from local and international businesses, including products previously available on Souq and five million products from Amazon US.

Souq customers can access Amazon.ae through the Amazon app or by visiting the Amazon.ae website.

Better Customer Experience

The app and the website will offer a ‘fast and rich’ browsing experience, accurate search results, trusted product reviews, personalised recommendations, and simple order management, Amazon reported in its statement.

Shoppers have the option of paying in Emirati dirhams (AED), using local and international credit cards, or opt for for a ‘cash on delivery’ service.

Customers can also access the website and app in Arabic.

The e-commerce giant will also continue to offer free next-day delivery on orders above AED 100 (€24) and paid same-day delivery to select areas in the UAE.
