Spar Austria Introduces Palm Oil Free Christmas Cookies

Spar Austria has announced that it has rolled out a new range of private label Christmas cookies that are free from palm oil.

The range also includes vanilla croissants, spicy gingerbread, and juicy cinnamon stars.

The retailer added that it replaced palm-oil with alternatives such as butter, sunflower, or rapeseed oil.

'Improving Biscuit Recipes'

Johann Pilz, bakery manager of the Interspar bakery in Graz, said, “We have been working on improving our biscuit recipes for several years now, and we have consistently refrained from using palm oil in our baked goods. Our biscuits taste even better as a result.”

Spar has already removed palm oil from other own-brand product ranges, including Spar Premium, Spar Natur * pur, Spar Vital, Spar free from, Spar Veggie, Spar enjoy, and Spar Feine Küche.
