Spar Opens Five New Supermarkets In China

  • Spar China has announced that it has opened five new supermarkets in the provinces of Shandong and Guangdong.

    The new openings include two supermarkets in Shandong and three in Guangdong.

    The new outlets take the total number of Spar stores in China closer to the 400 mark, the retailer said.

    Stores In Shandong

    The new stores in Shandong are located in Huailai County and Jinan city.

    The Spar supermarket in Huailai County has a sales area of around 8,000 square meters and offers more than 20,000 products.

    The store offers local specialties such as dried beef and kumis as well as regional and international products like beef and mutton from New Zealand, durian and coconut juice from Thailand, Belgian chocolates, and seafood from different parts of Europe.

    The second outlet in Shandong is located in the centre of Lixia district in Jinan, and is surrounded by an affluent local community and several office buildings.

    The 10,000 square metre supermarket offers customers a high-end shopping experience with several food-to-go options and large displays of fresh produce.

    The store also offers beauty products, homecare, and baby products.

    New Stores In Guangdong

    The third store is a 4,500 square metre supermarket in Foshan City in central Guangdong.

    It offers a large assortment of more than 16,500 products comprising a mix of both internationally-sourced and locally-produced food items.

    The retailer also launched two Spar Lifestyle stores in Dongguan city - Spar Shijie and Spar Xiping.

    With a sales area of 196 square metres, Spar Shijie offers a wide range of imported food and non-food items.

    Spar Xiping has a sales area of 191 square metres and the product offering emphasises on fresh produce sourced from local farmers.
