Spectra Packaging Announces Partnership With MPack Tubes

UK packaging firm Spectra Packaging has announced a new partnership with Polish packaging firm MPack Tubes to introduce flexible tubes to its range of containers and closures. The UK-based plastics company will work alongside the Polish flexible-tube manufacturer to significantly increase its existing product offering.

Based in Sobiekursk, MPack manufactures stylish, high-quality flexible tubes to both medium and large-sized cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries in both Europe and the UK, in house from its bespoke 2,400-square-metre plant.

The new alliance will enable Spectra to provide a range of flexible tubes with diameter sizes ranging from 19mm up to 50mm. Additionally, the tubes can also be offered with a range of decorative print finishes, including flexo printing, off-set printing, silk-screen printing and hot foil stamping. Additional services include tamper-evident shrink sleeving and induction heat sealing.

Speaking on the new deal, Jonathan Powell, sales director at Spectra, said, "Due to ongoing demand from many of our existing customers, we spent nearly a year researching the feasibility of increasing our offering to include flexible tubes. We've exhaustively looked at potential partners to team up with, and without doubt, the standout candidate was always MPack. This promises to be a true partnership, which will undoubtedly benefit both parties."

He continued, "There is definitely a synergy between the two of us. Much like Spectra, they have a small-enough-to-care ethos and a genuinely open-minded, flexible approach that is aimed at satisfying customer needs through innovation and speed of response."

Powell highlighted the growing concern among buyers within the packaging industry regarding a lack of choice of suppliers and the need for healthy competition.

Over recent years, Spectra has witnessed a shrinking number of suppliers, Powell said. "A number of customers I have spoken with are genuinely concerned by a lack of diversity of choice in the market, due in part to ongoing mergers and acquisitions. The opportunity to offer those customers more choice by working with MPack will certainly satisfy a demand and help allay fears of a growing environment of potentially unhealthy competition."
