Pam Panorama Takes Over 16 Arimondo Stores

Italian supermarket chain Pam Panorama has formally taken over 16 stores from local retailer Arimondo in Genoa, Savona and Imperia.

The change of ownership is the result of a commercial partnership agreement signed last November between the two partners, which seeks to offer consumers 'a richer and more innovative range, at always convenient prices'.

The former Arimondo stores in the Liguria region will now offer Pam Panorama's range of private label brands, while also retaining their dedication to high-quality fresh produce.

Pam’s customer loyalty program Carta Per Te will also be active in Arimondo stores, with all its exclusive advantages.

Launching The Partnership

The partnership between Pam Panorama and Arimondo kicked off last year, with the reopening of a store in Finalborgo and the transition to Metà (one of the Gruppo Pam’s banners) of the store in Alassio.

The plan for 2019 foresees a further six new openings in Genoa, Rapallo, Sanremo, Loano, Albissola and Albenga.

Gruppo Abate

Elsewhere, Catania-based Gruppo Abate has sold 20 supermarkets it directly owns and 15 franchised stores to Ergon, which is in turn part of the Sicilia Discount consortium of which Gruppo Abate is a member.

A Gruppo Abate spokesperson told daily La Sicilia that negotiations are underway for the possible sale of other stores, adding that the company is receiving and evaluating bids.

Ergon manages 140 stores throughout Central-Eastern Sicily, including Interspar hypermarkets, Eurospar/Despar supermarkets and Ard discount stores.
