Aldi US Rolls Out PL Gluten Free Range

Discount grocer Aldi is testing a private label gluten-free line across its stores in the US.

All Aldi stores started carrying 16 “LiveGfree” shelf-stable and frozen items this month. Price points range from $1.29 to $4.99. After this month, only about 300 stores in a variety of test markets will continue to carry LiveGfree products.

Select test stores in the Chicago, Twin Cities, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and New York metros will continue to carry a variety of LiveGfree products for the remainder of the year, with a company-wide rollout of the most popular items expected to take place later in the year.

Like in Europe, the Aldi retail brand is operated by Aldi Süd, where the new private-label experiment is taking place. ALDI Nord also has a presence in the US, where it owns the Trader Joe's supermarket chain.
