Budget Supermarket Iceland To Sell Lobster For £5

Budget supermarket Iceland has announced it is to start selling lobster in its stores for £5.

The luxury seafood will be imported from Canada and will be available in-store from next week.

The supermarket will also start offering hand-dived Peruvian scallops for just £4.

Iceland said it was committed to providing families with "great quality seafood" at Christmas.

"Our aim this year is to offer great quality meal solutions for our customers, from simple starters in shells to a side of salmon for the buffet table. The range is accessible to most customers, with prices ranging from £2 to £7, but we haven’t compromised on quality," a company spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

In September, Iceland bonds fell to a record low following the company's announcement that earnings had declined.

The grocery chain reported £38.4m of earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation in the three months to June 20 - a 13 per cent drop from a year earlier, according to a report sent to bondholders.
