Coop Switzerland is to introduce a private label range of generic drug products in its pharmacy business, Coop Vitality. Branded under the pharmacy name, the over-the-counter line will initially have 10 products, offering medication for colds, coughs and pain-relief. All of the products are in the C and D list of Swiss classification of products for self-medication.
It is planned that the range will expand to include another 40 products, offering a cheaper alternative to branded products. The start of 2013 will see the addition of seasonal allergy products and vitamins and tonics.
The 50-strong Coop Vitality pharmacy chain is a joint venture between Coop and GaleniCare. (15 Nov)
