Delhaize has joined Carrefour, Systeme-U and other retailers in launching a specific 'Kids' range of nutritious, healthy foods for children. Featuring a cartoon lion named Pamuka, the range will include cereal, fruit and vegetable portions, snacks, pasta, sauces and lunchbox treats.
Ahead of its launch, the range was assessed by a taste panel of sixty children from participating schools, with the successful products making their way into the final selection.
A Delhaize spokesperson said that the new range "formulated for the needs of children aged 5 to 10 years. [...] Even the GDA or daily guideline is recalculated for their age. Therefore, the nutritional value per serving easily comparable." Among the healthy options are 'veggie burgers' that contain five times less fat than chicken or beef alternatives, and whole-grain honey almond biscuits. (27 May)
