Germany Tops Chocolate Exports In The EU In 2019: Eurostat
Germany was the leading exporter of chocolate and chocolate bars among EU states in 2019, according to the latest data from Eurostat.
The country exported 640,000 tonnes of chocolate in this period, which accounted for 30% of total EU exports.
In total, EU member states exported 2.2 million tonnes of chocolate and chocolate bars in 2019.
Other Top Exporters
Belgium ranked second, with exports amounting to 300,000 tonnes or 14% of total exports, followed by the Netherlands at 290,000 tonnes (13%).
Poland exported 230,000 tonnes (10%) of chocolate and chocolate bars, while Italy exported 180,000 tonnes (8%).
These five EU Member States accounted for three-quarters of total EU chocolate and chocolate bars exports, data showed.
EU member states imported 220,000 tonnes of chocolate and chocolate bars from non-EU countries, which include 100,000 tonnes from the United Kingdom and 70,000 tonnes from Switzerland.
