Lactogal Introduces 'Bio-Based' Packaging For Mimosa Milk

Portuguese dairy company Lactogal has introduced Mimosa low fat, skimmed, and whole milk in bio-based packaging in Portugal and Spain, reports suggest.

The milk is available in new Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge 1L packaging, featuring carbon-trust certification, that will result in reducing the company's carbon footprint by 21%.

The cardboard used in the new packaging is sourced from sustainably managed forests and other controlled sources, with FSC certification. The lid is made of polyethylene derived from sugar cane, a renewable resource.

Mimosa claims that it is the first brand in the Iberian market to offer the bio-based packaging, which has acquired a '4 star' rating according to TUV renewability certification.

Sustainable Packaging

The new packaging will reduce emissions by around 1.2 million kilograms of CO2 per year and remove 700,000 kilograms of plastics from its operations.

It will also includes a QR code that enables consumers to access additional information about the origin of the raw materials used in the production of the packaging.
