New Eco-Friendly Packaging For Edeka Private Label Products

In an effort to support a more sustainable use of resources and reduce its environmental footprint, German retailer Edeka has teamed up with WWF to develop a rating system for its private label product packaging.

Since the start of 2016, a team of experts in the fields of environment, recycling and packaging have reviewed and rated the newly-designed packaging, taking into account what is currently technically feasible and available in packaging solutions.

The most efficient use of resources, the recyclability of the product and the availability of renewable sources are the main criteria used to determine the most eco-friendly option available.

“For Edeka, this holistic approach is more important than individual measures”, said Markus Mosa, the retailer's chief executive.
