Spar Austria has launched a new milk drink, Kefir Natur, which is now available in all Spar, Eurospar and Interspar stores.
Kefir, renowned as a 'hundred-year-old drink', originally comes from the Caucasus region. It is produced by fermenting milk with yeast, creating a probiotic milk drink.
Spar says that kefir can be consumed purely as a beverage, or used as an 'exciting alternative' in dressings, sauces and desserts. The retailer also notes that due to its low fat content, it is growing in popularity as an alternative to milk and yoghurt.
The retailer will be selling its new kefir product in a resealable 500ml bottle.
