Spar Austria Launches 'Locally-Grown' Cornflakes

For the first time, in collaboration with regional growers, Spar Austria has launched cornflakes made from Austrian-grown corn. The new 'Spar Natur*Pur Organic Cornflakes' or, 'Knusperflakes' are guaranteed GM free and produced to EU regulated, organic standards.

The production of cornflakes involves an elaborate cooking- and rolling process, to ensure that the structure of the corn is not destroyed and that the end product has a crispy, natural taste and appealing golden colour.

The corn needed for the production of Spar Natur*Pur Organic Cornflakes is grown by organic farmers in the Austrian regions of Burgenland and Carinthia. Following the harvest, the corn travels to Salzburg, to be ground locally and prepared for the further processing into cornflakes.

The new Austrian grown- and produced 'Knusperflakes' will be available in all Spar, Eurospar and Interspar stores, throughout Austria.
