UK-based food manufacturer Symington’s has acquired ready-meal maker Tanfield Foods.
The financial terms of the deal were not made available to the public.
Symington’s produces leading food brands such as Chicken Tonight and Ragu as well as many private-label brands for third parties.
Headquartered in Consett, Tanfield Foods produces a range of private-label brands for UK supermarkets along with the 'Look What We Found' brand and the free-from llumi range.
Commenting on the acquisition, David Salkeld, chief executive of Symington's, said: “The Tanfield Foods acquisition is a positive step forward in strengthening our position in branded convenience food and we welcome the people of Tanfield Foods to the Symington’s family."
He went on to say that the two companies have a proven track record of success in product innovation and brand development in these growing categories, and working together, they are very well placed "to continue to surprise and delight" consumers.
Geoff Allison, managing director at Tanfield Foods, said: "I am delighted with the Symington's deal as a combination of their strong retail relationships and extensive brand portfolio alongside our highly skilled team, top quality production facilities and modern packaging formats will drive rapid sales growth.”
