Tesco Hungary will adjust its entire Value range, offering more sophisticated packaging and an improved return policy, Napi.hu reports.
For years, the Gazdaságos ('Economical') range has been the obvious choice for inexpensive goods for the Hungarian shopper. However, Gazdaságos, one of Tesco Hungary’s three private-label ranges, has largely been associated with lesser quality among consumers. Gradually, Tesco Gazdaságos will be replaced with Tesco Value throughout Hungary’s 200+ Tesco stores.
”The reason behind this change -- or, rather, reintroduction -- is that since its launch 15 years ago, this brand has become weary and somewhat neglected, and due to the simple packaging, some consumers might have felt ashamed to put these products in their carts,” Laura L?w, private-label manager at Tesco Hungary told Napi.hu. Apart from more appealing packaging, the Value range will also come with a full money-back guarantee, she added.
Back in April 2012, Tesco UK announced the end of its Tesco Value supermarket range and replaced it with Everyday Value, in a move designed to appeal to a customer base demanding more than low price alone. In Hungary, on the contrary, the Tesco Value range is only being introduced now.
Tesco, one of the leading retailers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, will introduce similar measures in all four countries in the near future.
