Walmart Tests Autonomous Vehicles For Grocery Delivery In Arkansas
Walmart has announced that it is testing self-driving vehicles for grocery delivery and pickup in Bentonville in Arkansas.
The pilot project is being carried out in partnership with the autonomous vehicle company, Gatik.
In the test phase, Walmart will process customer orders along a two-mile route in Bentonville, between two of its stores.
It will also use the medium to transport goods between its distribution centres and stores.
The pilot test will help the retail giant to gain more insights about the logistics of integrating autonomous vehicles into its online grocery ecosystem and associated operation process changes.
In April, American retailer Kroger partnered with Nuro for a pilot project on autonomous grocery delivery in Houston.
